How popular is your birthday?

October 04, 2018

Matt Stiles created an interactive chart with the average amount of births based on the data of two decades of American Birthdays.

The darker the colour, the more babies were born on that day... which also shows a trend on when people tend to conceive! tee-hee!

You can see it in full glory, here.

THE 24 HOUR PROJECT

March 11, 2015

“Imagine 900 street photographers in 312 cities from 72 countries on 6 continents sharing a photo per hour during a 24hour day capturing the essence, complexity and the condition of humanity worldide.“

Last year I discovered the 24 hour photo project. This is an event that takes place across the globe and where you don't need to be a professional to participate. The premise is simple: no matter where you are or which camera you have, you share one picture per hour on the 21st of march.

As easy as that!

I participated last year and let me tell you: it's great! I swear it was really interesting to see how you would force yourself to observe all the little things and wonder if you would have actually noticed them otherwise. Plus it is really cool to see in real time what is happening in all the different cities and if this is still not exciting enough, the organisers host some exhibitions around the globe with these photographs (they would invite you to be part of it, they wouldn't use your picture without permission, don't worry).

____

Cool, eh!?

You still have time to REGISTER and this year the theme to photograph will be “human condition“.

You can check all the details on the 24 HOUR OFFICIAL WEBSITE or if you want to take a look at what happened last year here is a link to the GALLERY

See you there!!
_____

SMALL DOCUMENTARIES ABOUT CREATIVES

November 13, 2014

Like Know Like: Small documentaries about creatives
One of the greatest things about blogging is how you can connect with other people who think alike or who inspire you to do something different.

Today I ran into this beautiful website called LIKE KNOWS LIKE where they feature mini documentaries (think around 5 minutes long) about creatives from all disciplines: singers, designers, bloggers, photographers, illustrators and so on. What's extra cool about it is you get to see more about the person behind the artist, you get to understand some of their fears and hopes just to find out you have some of those certain fears, hopes and dreams as well.

I loved this video about illustrator Gefen Rafaeli. She is the creator of an instagram project called DAILY DOODLEGRAM where she creates illustrations based on the inspiration she gets from her instagram feed. Her project is quite cool (you can check out her instagram HERE) but what really caught my attention is how she says she really misses her childhood and that carefree feeling to the point where she could almost cry. If you ask me, I think that's beautiful and even sometimes I also feel a bit like her, missing all the freedom and the innocence of those years. What would you do if you were allowed to enjoy a day like a kid again?, wouldn't it be great!! :)

¿¡no sería genial!?

This project was created by filmmaker Bas Berkhout and photographer Marije Kuiper and if you have a few minutes please go check the videos! I promise they are going to make you happy. I also enjoyed a lot discovering the life and music of TESSA ROSE JACKSON and TINA ROTH EISENBERG. She is by far the representation of the word multitasking: she runs the uber popular blog SWISSMISS, is the creator of design-y temporary tattoos TATTLY and the creator of the CREATIVE MORNINGS monthly events that now run around the world. Someone tell me how the heck she does all that plus being a mom while looking so relaxed!!! haha
