A song: Pinos, by Masa (Didi Gutman from Brazilian Girls and Héctor Castillo)
So... these past few days I have been obsessed with Miranda July. I introduced S. to her movies and her work in general and this last weekend while we were strolling in Toronto I saw this book and trust me, it is the next one I want to buy. Apparently it is a compilation of short stories, but with July the most important thing is the way she tells those stories and how they revolve around the ordinary things. For those who are not familiar with her, she is an american filmmaker, actress, artist and has been named one of the most influential independent voices of these recent years. If you are curious about her work you can watch her first movie “Me and you and everyone we know“ which was awarded at Sundance and Cannes Film Festival.
About this song... I am a huge fan of the band Brazilian Girls. A few years ago I was lucky to run into Didi Gutman who plays at this band so I was really happy to find this video of Didi and multi awarded producer Héctor Castillo with this project called Masa. I think the sound is pretty cool and can make you dance while you get ready to start the day!
