YOU NEED TO BE BORED MORE OFTEN

September 07, 2025

Loved this video! Yes!

I very much enjoy going out for a run for this same reason: when you're "bored", you have time to think about things you don't make time for, and you get to think about questions and answers you wouldn't have had time to think about if you would have been "entertained" scrolling through your feed.

I'm trying to get better at it.

FIVE THINGS I LEARNED AFTER BLOGGING DAILY FOR A WEEK

August 27, 2024

Hi, I'm Carla, I love blogs, and for the past little while I've been running some experiments online.

I haven't told a lot of people I've started a YouTube channel nor that I've started blogging again. Instead, I'm now trying to figure out what I'm trying to say as well as finding a style and rhythm.

Getting to this point has been the culmination of a long process overthinking the process and at some point I decided to just go for it, so here we are!

For context, I enjoy writing and reading about daily life as much as I love a good blog sharing about musings and curiosities, so I figured the most honest thing I could do was to keep a balance of these two.

Here's a bit about my posting strategy and some things I've observed so far:

• Not every post needs to be a masterpiece.

• It's important to build momentum. Smaller pieces help with that. This video really helped me reframe how I think about these two.

• You become more aware of ideas that might be interesting to share.

• It feels less daunting to work on bigger posts knowing there is content being shared and that not everything relies on that one bigger piece.

* I've established to blog throughout the week and to take time off over the weekend.

I've also realized I need to figure out a few things like:

• Find a system to bookmark links I'd like to save to revisit / share in the future.

• Should I make a routine to find a time to blog during the day (morning/night) or should I blog whenever I find the time? I've realized it's easier to share as soon as I can, otherwise I can start second guessing myself, I get busy, the excitement gets lost or I simply forget about it.

• Do I feel comfortable creating content in advance? For interviews, features and special projects this sort of makes sense but I think the excitement of sharing something when you see it is something I would like to keep.

My main priority right now is to keep building the habit and to enjoy the process.
